High Density Well Sphericity Oilfield Fracturing Proppant
Oilfield fracturing proppants are core materials for the development and construction of low-permeability oil and gas fields. Their performance directly determines the fracturing effect and the productivity of oil and gas wells, and must meet three core technical requirements: excellent compressive strength and abrasion resistance to withstand the high pressure and friction during downhole injection, firmly supporting artificial fractures to ensure unobstructed seepage channels; moderate to low particle density to suit downhole pumping processes and improve construction efficiency; and strong high-temperature chemical stability, exhibiting no chemical reaction with fracturing fluids or reservoir fluids at 200℃, with acid solubility strictly controlled below 7%.
Currently, commonly used fracturing proppants in oil and gas fields mainly include three types: quartz sand, bauxite ceramsite sand, and resin-coated composite particles. Each type has significantly different characteristics and applicable scenarios: Quartz sand is widely used in conventional operating conditions due to its low cost, low density, and ease of pumping; however, it suffers from insufficient strength and poor sphericity, which can reduce fracture conductivity and make it unsuitable for deep well production with high closure pressure. Resin-coated quartz sand composite particles, while optimizing sphericity and improving corrosion resistance and conductivity, are limited by short shelf life and high cost, hindering large-scale promotion in cost-oriented oil and gas extraction. Bauxite ceramsite proppants, on the other hand, combine performance and cost advantages, possessing excellent properties such as high sphericity, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and high pressure resistance, while also having controllable production costs, making them the mainstream choice for oil and gas fields.
Practical applications have shown that using bauxite ceramsite proppant for fracturing operations can increase oil and gas well production by 30%-50% and effectively extend the service life of oil and gas wells. It provides reliable material support for the efficient and long-term exploitation of low-permeability oil and gas fields and is an indispensable key supporting material in the field of oil and gas exploitation.
