Overview of Roller Crusher
The roller crusher is a relatively old type of crushing machinery. Its main advantages are: simple structure, compact and lightweight body, low price, reliable operation, convenient adjustment of crushing, less over-crushing, and ability to crush sticky and wet materials. Due to these advantages, roller crushers are still used in some industrial sectors and are undergoing further improvements and developments.
The disadvantages of roller crushers are: low production capacity, requiring material to be fed evenly and continuously along the full length of the rollers; otherwise, the rollers will wear unevenly, and the resulting product particle size will not be uniform, requiring frequent repairs. For smooth roller crushers, the size of the feed material must be much smaller than the roller diameter, therefore it cannot crush large materials or hard materials; it is usually used for medium and fine crushing of medium-hard or soft materials. While toothed roller crushers can handle larger pieces, their use is limited to medium crushing, and the compressive strength of the material cannot exceed 60.8 MPa; otherwise, the toothed edges are easily broken.
Based on the number of rollers, roller crushers can be divided into four types: single-roll, double-roll, three-roll, and four-roll. Based on the shape of the roller surface, they can be divided into three types: smooth roller crushers, grooved roller crushers, and toothed roller crushers. The specifications of roller crushers are expressed by the roller diameter × roller length L.
